ABS-CBN's veteran journalists together in "Krusada"

ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs gives you "Krusada", a new program that will voice out, take a stand and fight for change in the country. The crusade of the Filipino for the Filipino is about to begin.

This Thursday (December 9) after Bandila, Krusada will start acting on and responding to the biggest and most pressing issues in each sector of society, spearheaded by the best and veteran journalists of ABS-CBN such as Ted Failon, Ces Drilon, Henry Omaga-Diaz, Lynda Jumilla, Gus Abelgas, Dyan Castillejo, Karen Davila, Julius Babao, and Noli "Kabayan" De Castro.

We don't effect change with words alone. Sometimes, we have to take a stand. ABS-CBN journalists are ready to become true agents of change and it is through Krusada that they can push for their own advocacies for the Filipino people," said ABS-CBN Head for News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes.

This is why in the first airing of Krusada, Ces Drilon will tackle an issue that is especially close to her heart--the issue on reproductive health. Drilon visited Fabella Hospital, a hospital in Manila renowned for delivering babies. Here she met Aling Zeny who has given birth to her tenth child. Zeny said that she didn't want another child after their last. However, they had no access to contraceptives.

Drilon also went to Baseco, Manila where she met Evelyn who was pregnant with her eighth child. The mother doubts as to whether they can still send their children to college. Meanwhile, another mother, Marissa is pregnant with her seventh child and plans to have her child adopted the moment she gives birth.

Their different narratives show the need for a more effective and comprehensive family planning program. A reproductive health program that will protect the women and the children is Drilon's crusade for the country.

Advocacy journalism that gives a clear standpoint and concrete action--this is what Krusada is all about. Because true public service is propelled by action, not merely words.

ABS-CBN Correspondent Ces Drilon, Jimmy Encarnacion and Angelo Valderama's "Kidnap" documentary

The kidnapping issue of ABS-CBN Senior Correspondent Ces Drilon, cameraman Jimmy Encarnacion, and assistant cameraman Angelo Valderama by the Abu Sayyaf becomes a betrayal issue between the government and negotiating team.

Many news are been reported but what is the real truth about their kidnapping? What happened in the nine days they were held captive by armed men in Sulu?

On Sunday July 13th (10:00 p.m.) ABS-CBN will air a special documentary entitled, "Kidnap". They will tell their experiences and their stories. They will supported their stories with a footage shot by Encarnacion in captivity.

As ABS-CBN described it, "This is a documentary about recklessness and violence, about spirits that will not be broken by the barrel of a gun, about brotherhood, about family, about choices, about fear, and about just what it means—to have courage."

Ces Drilon is suspended for three months by ABS-CBN

To show that everyone must follow protocols even your a top news anchor, Ces Drilon was suspended by ABS-CBN for disobeying orders and guidelines on not to go to Indanan, Sulu where she sacrificed the security of her crew (cameramen Jimmy Encarnacion and Angelo Valderama) that resulted of their abduction by Abu Sayyaf group.

Ces Drilon is suspended for three months as news anchor of Bandila and as Senior Correspondent.

Ces said, “I respectfully accept the sanctions you deem proper in my disregard of your order. I cannot put into words how deeply I regret having put my team in danger … and having caused anxiety and stress to the whole organization.”

You can't fully blame her, a good correspondent will enter any danger zone so that he/she can get a great solid news for the public.
