Roman Polanski is Free; won't be Extradited to United States
Award winning director Roman Polanski will now see the daylight of freedom after the Swiss government denied United States' extradition request over sex charges in 1977. The court decided that they are not in the right position to judge the degree of his crime.
The extradition request was denied after legal records required by Switzerland were not supplied by the US. The downside with this development is the US government can’t apply another extradition in this country, but they can apply to other countries to have Roman detained and extradited.

"It’s not about qualifying the crime. That is not our job,” Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf said. “It’s also not about deciding over guilt or innocence.”Polanski pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977 but then fled the United States before he could be sentenced. Last year, he was arrested in Switzerland during Zurich Film Festival. Swiss court granted him a $4.5 million bail for his released aand since then Polanski is fighting his extradition.
