Nick Lachey on Jessica Simpson's Engagement

Despite the coincidental timing of both engagement, Nick Lachey wishes the best for his ex-wife Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson.

Jessica and her boyfriend/former NFL player Eric Johnson got engaged on Thursday (November 11).

Lachey tells UsMag, "I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best."

Just last week, Lachey also popped the question to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, whom he began dating in 2006 after his split with Jessica.

Jessica also gave nice word on Nick Lachey's engagement:

"I couldn't be more happy for Nick. Our relationship was over a really long time ago so it would be nice if everybody could move on with us and just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa. I wish them nothing but the best."

Both are now ready for round two! It seems Jessica Simpson will be the first one will walk at the altar.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo decided to elevates their relationship as the two are now engaged to be married!  

In a joint statement, the couple said, "We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together."

Lachey also confirmed it via twitter, "Hey all. If anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement, they are absolutely true! Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the love."

Lachey and Minnillo started dating 2006, the year after Lachey split from wife Jessica Simpson.

It's not a sexual thing and it's not a romantic thing, it just becomes an intimate thing. You're in your full form, so to speak, and you're vulnerable and we just both let our guard down. I've had some of my most intimate conversations with him in the shower."

Funny coincidence for the former couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey that their both single at the same time. Nick Lachey talks a little bit about Jessica Simpson being dumped by Tony Romo.

Nick said, "I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I’ve always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say."

"I haven't talked to her in probably two years," Lachey says. "I wish her happiness. That’s where it pretty much ends."

Now, talking about his breakup with Vanessa Minnillo, he learned that he must take it as it goes.

"I'm in a good place," he says. "I've learned, through years of not only being in this business, but being in relationships, that you have to take it as it goes. With every experience, you learn something about your life, and you try to take that and move on and be a better person because of it. We'll see what happens."

It seems he take it well about his breakup rather than Jessica Simpson who is still on hiding.

I’m so glad I didn’t listen to everyone else and not do it.”

Vanessa on acting career.
"Acting is something new for me, and you have to master this craft. It's not just something you jump into.

"Acting is a different way to entertain people. Most people know how to be themselves in front of the camera, but interpreting a character takes a lot. Once I get the right role, I'll just feel it."
