2010 MMFF: "Father Jejemon" got “G” rating from MTRCB after deleting controversial scenes

Philippines' King of Comedy Dolphy is facing a dilemma over his upcoming movie "Father Jejemon" after some people from the Catholic church criticized some controversial racy scenes and they called on the public to boycott the movie.

The veteran actor doesn't want to defy the church so he decided to delete the two controversial scenes and now, the Movies and Television Review and Classification Board gave "Father Jejemon" a “G” rating (for General Patronage).

The two controversial scenes deleted are: the Holy Eucharist accidentally dropping into the cleavage of a woman communicant and the other with the Holy Eucharist caught in the dentures of another woman communicant.

This holiday comedy is RVQ Production's movie entry for 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival.

MMFF 2009: "Nobody, Nobody but...Juan” - full trailer

Philippines' King of Comedy Dolphy is headlining the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and his movie entry is "Nobody, Nobody but Juan”.

The original title of the movie is "Juan" but when Wondergirls hit song "Nobody" instantly became a craze, Dolphy himself suggested that they add "Nobody, Nobody" to the title. [SYNOPSIS and TRAILER Below..]
Juan tells the story of US-based Juan (Dolphy), who lives in a senior home run by his son (Eric) and daughter-in-law (G Tongi). Juan’s favorite past-time is watching Wowowee on The Filipino Channel. However, he does not watch the show just for entertainment’s sake. Aside from wanting to connect with the Philippines that he dearly misses, Juan is lonesome for his first love Aida whom he lost touch with during the Japanese Occupation of Manila. Wowowee is Juan’s way of coping with homesickness and reliving the beloved past.

When watching Wowowee is banned in the home, Juan takes drastic measures to watch his favorite TV program. In his quest, he crosses paths with his old friend Tu (Eddie Garcia) who used to be his partner in the vaudeville duo Juan Tu. Pokwang is cast as the partner in crime of Tu.

Cast inludes Eric Quizon, G Toengi, Eddie Garcia, Pokwang, Gloria Romero, Heart Evangelista, Epy Quizon, Vandolph Quizon, Eugene Domingo, and special participation of Willie Revillame.

Co-produce by RVQ Production and Kaizz Ventures and opens on Dec. 25 in theaters nationwide.

Dolphy in ABS-CBN's May Bukas Pa

Philippines' comedy king Dolphy will try to teach you the meaning of life on his guest appearance on this week's episode on ABS-CBN's primetime drama series May Bukas Pa.

Dolphy will give life to the character of Pilo, who is the father of Moy (Vhong Navarro). Pilo wants a simple life while Moy is ambitious. Because of his age, Pilo agrees to live in the home for the aged while Moy decides to pursue his dreams. A crisis in Moy's life, however, makes Pilo question himself and if he did right by his son. - synopsis via ABS-CBN.



2009 Metro Manila Film Festival - 8 official entries announced

It is definitely a massive battle of Philippines' A-list actors and actresses in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2009. It is hard to determine who will reign as the top movie in this year's MMFF.

The festival, which runs from the 25th of December to the first week of January, focuses on locally-produced films.

MMDA chairman-MMFF head Bayani Fernando just announced the 8 official entries for the 35th edition of the said festival.

Anoher TV project for Dolphy

After his tandem with Vic Sotto in the movie "Dobol Trobol", Philippines' King of Comedy Dolphy who is now 80 years-old will not back down in working and entertaining his Filipino fans.

Dolphy will be doing a new television project titled "Utoy" with ABS-CBN's top kid Makisig Morales.

Veteran comedian and Philippine icon Dolphy (Rodolfo Vera Quizon) is overwhelmed on the successful launched of his book entitled "Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa". In his book you will rediscover his journey in life, pain and triumph.

To continue recognizing the comedy king's contribution, ABS-CBN is honoring him by renaming its premier venue, Studio 1, to "Dolphy Theatre".

The unveiling ceremony of the Dolphy Theater happened Monday afternoon, July 28 which is also ABS-CBN's 80th birthday gift to him.

The Comedy King reiterated his loyalty to the network and said that he's happy that he will leave a legacy that the future will be able to see especially inside the network's compound.

Marian Rivera joined Dolphy and Vic Sotto in a movie

The first time we heard the team up between Dolphy and Vic Sotto last year, many are happy and now anticipating with this upcoming new film. We will see the charms of two great comedy actors in the big screens.

And now a new development is added to spice up this upcoming movie. GMA's Marimar star and considered as the Philippines new primetime queen Marian Rivera will be included in this forthcoming movie. The combination of this three will surely lift the Philippine movie industry.

According to PEP, the comedy king Dolphy chose Marian to play the role of his daughter and Vic Sotto will be Marian’s leading man in this film.

It is a joint production between APT Films and M-ZET Productions of Vic Sotto. The movie will be directed by Tony Y. Reyes.
