"ELY BUENDIA XL Xtra Live at 40" airing on Sunday Dec. 12

GMA Network is airing the intimate birthday concert party of singer-songwriter Ely Buendia in "ELY BUENDIA XL Xtra Live at 40" on Dec. 12, 10:30 p.m. on Sunday Night Box Office (SNBO).

The first and never-to-be-repeated solo concert of Ely features the past two decades of his colorful and successful musical career with special guest performances from his old and new friends in the industry.

Viewers will witness Ely’s thrilling performances with his band Pupil and Dope Militia as he revisits songs from his collaboration album with Francis Magalona, In Love and War; songs from his solo album Wanted: Bedspacer; and some of his personal favorites and selected Eraserheads hit singles like Sembreak, Magasin and Ang Huling El Bimbo.

One of the highlights of his birthday concert that will certainly get your heart racing was when ex-Eraserheads drummer Raimund Marasigan jammed with him onstage as they performed Saturn Return from the 1998 Eraserheads compilation album, Aloha Milkyway.

Philippine music icons Francis Magalona and Pupil next album, "Sickos"

Both undergoing health problems, music icons Francis Magalona and Pupil lead vocalist Ely Buendia continues doing what they both love most, Music. The two is currently collaborating for a new album entitled, "Sickos".

They started recording November of last year. With this album their eying in creating a new foundation for artists who are sick and undergoing financial problems or who need hospitalization.

Health problem : Heart condition problem for Ely while Francis M is currently undergoing chemotherapy because of leukemia.

Pupil's "Set Me Apart" music video for Animax wins Promax/BDA Design Awards 2008

This is a good news for Pupil's frontman Ely Buendia after recovering from the angioplasty procedure, Pupil's "Set Me Apart" music video that has been used as Animax Asia's theme song won the BDA gold honor for Best Music Video or Short Subject at the recent Promax/BDA Design Awards 2008 held in New York.

Designed and produced by a Malaysian animation studio, they created an animé-inspired visual style characteristic of the channel. It features the band members as animated characters and was aired on Animax across Asia and on-line to wide acclaim.

Meanwhile, Pupil is busy promoting their second single "Disconnection Notice".

Francis Magalona and Ely Buendia performed live at Eat Bulaga

Explosive live performance on the return of two Pinoy music icon at GMA's Eat Bulaga.

Francis Magalona and Ely Buendia with his band Pupil rocked the house down as they sang "Super Proxy" together. You will feel the emotions of the crowd and all the Eat Bulaga host and staff. Their teary eyes means "Welcome Back!!!".

Last August, Ely Buendia has underwent again another angioplasty procedure after his heart attack at the reunion concert with his former band Eraserheads at the Bonifacio Global City open field.

Francis Magalona has been diagnosed with leukemia and still he is slowly recovering.

With their courage and help, Francis Magalona said, "This is a victory for the sick people".

text message of Ely Buendia is dead is not true

There are no truth to the rumors of former Eraserheads' frontmant Ely Buendia is dead.

Their is a nasty text message that are circulating the Ely has passed away due to complications brought by his heart ailment.

According to his manager that Ely was ordered by his doctors to rest for two months straight after undergoing another angioplasty.

It is a cardiac rehabilitation program that a recovering patient must follow to manage his condition.

Ely Buendia is stable after another angioplasty procedure

After his heart attack during their reunion concert, former Eraserheads vocalist Ely Buendia underwent again another angioplasty procedure yesterday morning at the Philippine Heart Center. This is his 3rd time to do this procedure.

Buendia's manager Day Cabuhat said that Ely is now "100 percent fully-restored and now recovering" after the said procedure.

Ely’s wife Diane said, “He’s OK. He’s in stable condition."

In 2007, Ely also suffered a heart attack while his new band Pupil was performing in Laguna. He underwent two angioplasty procedures at the PHC.

Angioplasty procedures is a surgical operation where narrowed or blocked arteries are widened.

Ely Buendia is now at Philippine Heart Center

The highly anticipated reunion comeback of Pinoy band icon Eraserheads at the Bonifacio Global City open field yesterday Aug. 30 push through but the unexpected happened and the concert was cut short. Lead vocalist Ely Buendia suffered chest pain and reportedly collapsed after the first set.

He was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and the Buendia's family has declined to comment on his condition. They also requested the media to refrain from interviews and shooting video of the singer.

UPDATE: After he was treated at Makati Med., he was transferred at the Philippine Heart Center around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

Reportedly, Buendia suffered chest pains due to the stress brought about by his mother's recent death and exhaustion due to the rehearsals for the Eraserheads reunion concert.

Buendia's mother died of cardiac arrest early morning of August 28. She had been recovering from surgery done just days before to treat her intestinal cancer.

In 2007, Buendia suffered a heart attack while his new band Pupil was performing in Laguna. He underwent two angioplasty procedures at the Philippine Heart Center after doctors found at least two blockages in his arteries.

Eraserheads' Reunion Concert New Details

After the rumored cancellation and sponsorship controversy, Philippines' legendary 90's band Eraserheads is now busy releasing tickets for the said reunion concert.

The one-night only reunion concert was initially initiated by Philip Morris but was question and petition by the Department of Health and the anti-tobacco groups the legal issues and the ask the band to reject the sponsorship of the said cigarette manufacturers.

DOH urge the Eraserheads to junk their cigarette sponsor

Anti-tobacco organizations and the government especially the Department of Health (DOH) is urging and appealing to Pinoy band Eraserheads (Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan) to reject and cancel the sponsorship of cigarette manufacturers in their highly anticipated reunion concert this August 30.

A DOH official said that icon band like the Eraserheads must disassociate themselves from a cigar company.

Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Alliance-Philippines is asking the band to copy the recent act of Alicia Keys who rejected the sponsorship of cigarette giant Philip Morris for her concert in Indonesia.

Philip Morris confirmed that their company is sponsoring the reunion concert.
